This one was a return visit - and honestly, that never gets old. When a client comes back because they loved the first install, it tells you everything. They wanted to extend what we had already done and add a clean path along the side yard. Simple scope, but the details matter just as much on a smaller job as they do on a big one.
Here's what we were working with - rough, uneven ground running between the house and the white vinyl fence. No real definition, no clean edge, just dirt and dead grass. The goal was to grade it out, bring in fresh soil, and set up a finished look that actually tied into the existing stone work on the fence side.
We graded the entire run to get a smooth, even base. That part doesn't always get talked about, but it's what separates a job that holds up from one that looks rough six months later. Once the ground was leveled and the soil was worked in properly, the path came together with a clean brick border edging and stone detail that matched the existing fence-side gravel bed.
The finished area sits flush and level from one end to the other. The stone path and the graded lawn area on the opposite side create a really balanced look - structured on the fence side, clean and open on the lawn side, ready for sod once everything settles. Small footprint, but the impact on the overall property is noticeable.
That's the thing about side yards and tight spaces - they're easy to ignore, but when you clean them up, the whole property looks more intentional. We take the same approach on every job, big or small. Good grading, clean lines, and materials that match what's already there.
