Sometimes a feature that was once a selling point becomes a headache. That's exactly what happened here. This backyard had an older pond that had run its course - overgrown, worn down, and taking up valuable yard space the homeowner wanted back. The rock edging, liner, and all the material surrounding it had to go before we could even think about what comes next.
We started by breaking down and clearing out the entire pond structure. The rocks, the liner, the built-up debris around the edges - all of it came out. This kind of work is a mix of excavation and demo, and you have to do it right or you end up with voids and soft spots under the filled area that will sink and shift over time. That's not something we're willing to leave behind.
Once the pond was cleared, we brought in fill material and got to work grading the area level with the rest of the yard. The skid steer you can see in the background was key for moving material efficiently across the space. After the machine work, the crew hand-raked and worked the surface to make sure everything was smooth and tight. No lumps, no low spots.
What this homeowner ended up with is a clean, flat yard that's actually usable. Whether they're thinking about new sod, a patio, a garden bed - whatever the plan is, the ground is ready for it. That's the whole point of a job like this. You clear out the old, grade it properly, and hand it back in a condition where the next step is actually possible.
This is the kind of work we do every day - pond removal, land clearing, grading, seasonal cleanups. Jobs that need someone who can handle the whole scope from start to finish without cutting corners on the details that matter most.
