Front Yard Landscape Beds and Hardscape Retaining Walls Mid-Build

Here's a good look at what a full front yard landscape overhaul actually looks like while it's in progress. The existing yard was a blank slate - no real definition, no beds, nothing pulling the eye toward the house. That's exactly the kind of situation where starting fresh and building a solid layout from the ground up makes the most sense.

We came in and got to work on the grading and excavation first, clearing out and shaping the ground so everything had a proper foundation before a single block went down. That step matters more than most people realize. If the base isn't right, the walls shift and the beds settle unevenly over time. We don't skip it.

The retaining walls going in here are curved and tiered - wrapping the front of the house in a way that frames the brick exterior really nicely. The beds are set up with weed barrier and fresh plantings already going in, and the gravel pathway running through the yard is laid over landscape fabric to keep things clean long-term. It's all built to stay low-maintenance, which is the whole point.

Still more to come on this one. The walkway and additional rock still need to go in, but even at this stage you can already see how much structure and definition the yard has picked up. A front yard like this - with clean beds, solid hardscape, and a clear layout - does a lot for a home's overall look without asking much of the homeowner week to week.
