Backyard Paver Patio and Fire Pit Build Worth Every Brick

Most backyards start as just grass. No real place to sit, no reason to stay outside longer than you have to. That's exactly what this property looked like before we got started - a blank slate with a lot of potential and nothing to show for it yet.

We came in and installed a full paver patio system that runs from the covered outdoor structure all the way out to a built-in fire pit seating area. The covered section ties directly into the house and flows outward, giving you a shaded space right off the back door and an open entertaining area beyond it. Two distinct zones, one continuous hardscape.

The paver pattern here is doing a lot of work. We used a mixed-tone brick with a darker charcoal border to frame the whole layout. That border detail is what separates a clean install from something that just looks thrown together. It gives the eye a stopping point and makes the whole patio feel intentional - not just a pile of pavers dropped in the ground.

The fire pit is built from stacked block and sits centered on the outer patio pad, flanked by natural boulders placed around the gravel surround. We're still finishing up a wraparound border to tie those boulders into the overall design. Once that's done, the whole space will have a cohesive, finished look that actually complements the home instead of competing with it.

This is what good hardscape installation does - it turns unused outdoor space into somewhere people actually want to spend time. No muddy grass, no maintenance headaches, just a solid surface that holds up and looks great doing it.
